ABOUT US

The first barn was built in 1993 with 6 stalls for the personal horses. Then in 2000 the training barn was built but after heavy snow fall that winter, just months before opening, the indoor arena collapsed. With much determination and hard work the arena was rebuilt and Lonesome

Dove Training Center LLC was finally able to open in 2001. Our training facility features a 17 stall heated barn, with spacious 12 x 12 stalls, four 9 x 11 indoor unheated stalls, a 70 x 160 indoor arena, 100 x 150 outdoor arena, outdoor turnouts, and 24 hour on-site care.

Erik Haff is part owner of Lonesome Dove and also the head trainer. He grew up with horses and with the respect of working to achieve what you want. This respect combined with patience and a willingness to learn has given him the chance to team up with top level horses.

After high school Erik went to work for Northwoods Arabians in Park Rapids, MN. While working there he had the good fortune of working with trainer Mike George. As well as Lee Mancini of Mancini Training Center. Erik teaches all of his clients that no matter what your experience level you learn something new every day. Our program allows him to spend the time needed with each individual horse. We specialize in Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, Equitation, Reining, and Halter.

Lonesome Dove is also the home of two loving black labs. Randy is our beloved horse show dog and can be seen laying by the stalls, waiting for a treat as you walk by. Maggie while still learning the show environment, loves to play a good game of fetch at the end of the day.

All of us at Lonesome Dove would love for you to stop in and see first hand how it all works here. We hope that you decide to give us a try and provide your precious family member a great home.
